Ayurveda

the science of life

OH THANK HEAVENS FOR AYURVEDA! There is nothing like it’s rejuvinative therapies for body, mind, and soul.

Around 5,000 years ago the sages of India developed Ayurveda (the science of life) which continues to be one of world's oldest, most sophisticated, and powerful forms of holistic healing systems for mind-body heath known to this day. It is based on the belief that our natural state is one of health, and that wellness depends on the delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. It offers an immense amount of wisdom and depth designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realizing their full human potential.

What is involved?

They call it pacifying Vata (Wind) in the body something the West has all too much of. This is done by vigorously massaging the body with warm oil that has been cooked for 30 days on a fire with over 30 herbs all the while praying and singing to the ones who bring health and healing. Follow this with nasya oil in the nose to pacify and clarify the mental faculties, a full body eucalyptus steam, and ending lying down again with a continuous flow of oil over the third eye to help the mind relax, cleanse and open into its natural state…YES after one of theses sessions you will be praising Ayurveda too!

I was introduced to Ayurveda through my studies of yoga and my travels to India. I began diving full heartedly into Robert Svobodha and Dr. Vasant Lad in 2001. I fell in love with the therapeutic practices of Panchakarma while working at the Ayurveda Health Retreat in Alachua Fl between the years of 2008 and 2021. Through this work I have witnessed more miracles than I can count. The practices are so simple and yet so profound.

To get the most out of the therapeutic practices they are best paired with an Ayurvedic Wellness consultation, yoga, meditation, food, and lifestyle adjustments. Fortunately we leave in a town with a handful of Ayurvedic specialists, so if you feel inspired after receiving one of the treatments to go further you can! I would love to help you find the support to deepen in this journey. A true Panchakarma can help reverse the negative effects of daily living, cleanse your body of toxins, and bring balance to the entire system and lasts somewhere between 3-28 days. At Her Healing Arts we offer a taste of this cleansing through Abyangha (oil massage), Swedena (infrared sauna), Nasya (oil nasal therapy), Shirodhara (warm oil flowing on the third eye for the nervous system) Basti (concetrated oil packs in specific parts of the body like the eyes for purifying the vision), some herbal remedies, diet, and lifestyle adjustments. We hope that through this tasting you will be inspired by Ayurveda’s ability to offer life changing results.
