My experience with Thai Yoga Massage:
In 2001, while in Thailand, I had my first introduction to Thai Massage. Little did I know that this massage modality would become a significant part of my life. I was struck by how different it was from any other massage I had experienced before. After receiving Thai Massage, I felt integrated, pain-free, and in complete harmony with myself. Years later, I was reintroduced to Thai Massage by my first teacher, Ariela Grodner, in Gainesville, Florida in 2008. Under Ariela's guidance, I discovered the unique power of Thai Massage – an offering of metta (love), and a beautiful combination of Ayurveda and Buddhism straight from the heart that unlocks the entire being. Since then, I have dedicated much of my life to mastering this art and helping others experience its transformative power.
Roots…
Thai Massage is believed to have originated over 2,500 years ago as a dynamic bodywork therapy that combines the principles of Yoga and Ayurveda. It is said that this therapeutic art was born in the temples and is rooted in the traditions of Ayurvedic medicine. Jivaka Kumarbhaccha, a physician to the Buddha and founder of Thai Massage, was a renowned doctor and yogi. Following the Buddha's passing, early Buddhist monks migrated to Southeast Asia, bringing along Ayurvedic doctors who practiced a healing art that would later evolve into traditional Thai Massage
What is it like to receive?
Thai Massage is a unique massage modality that is performed on the floor with comfortable clothing that allows for flexibility. This technique is similar to assisted yoga postures, with a focus on the breath and body awareness. During a session, the practitioner uses compression and tapotement along the body's energy lines to provide a full-body treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system, and balances the body energetically.
With its ability to address both physical and energetic imbalances, Thai Massage is a popular therapeutic art that is gaining popularity worldwide. Its many benefits make it an excellent choice for those seeking to improve their overall health and well-being.
Thai Herbal Bundles:
Thai Herbal Bundles are a unique multi-therapy massage treatment that combines the benefits of Thai Massage, aromatherapy, and herbal healing. This traditional technique dates back to the origins of Thai Massage and incorporates knowledge that has been gathered and passed down for generations about the medicinal effects of plants.
What to expect?
This ancient therapy has been passed down through generations and integrates the wisdom of plant medicine with the therapeutic touch of massage.
During a Thai Herbal Bundle treatment, the therapist uses muslin balls filled with a blend of up to 15-20 aromatic and therapeutic herbs. These bundles are then steamed to release their potent properties and applied to the body's meridians and marma points. The heat and pressure of the compresses, along with the healing properties of the herbs, provide a relaxing and invigorating effect on the mind and body.
Thai Herbal Bundles are particularly effective for acute and chronic pain relief and can also be beneficial for prenatal and postpartum care. Whether you are seeking relief from physical discomfort or simply wish to relax and rejuvenate, this treatment offers a unique and powerful form of healing.
