I’ve been gathering the tools for this work since I was in my early teens, but it was the birth of my daughter which awakened me to the purpose behind the gathering. When my daughter was born, everything changed. It was as if all of the experiences of my life coalesced. I realized in a single breath why I had been gathering so much and it was all for the mothers.

What does it mean to be a Full Spectrum Doula?

Offering Full-Spectrum Service means that I serve anyone in the birth spectrum, including those that have experienced miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth or other pregnancy loss. I believe that it is important for women to receive care and education to understand that the body still needs tending and that our ancestors left us ways to move through our grief, to nourish ourselves, and to heal whatever we face.

What is a Doula?

From my perspective, a doula holds the wisdom pole of connection and wholeness for the mother. In the moments when she needs support, a doula protects the sacred space around the mother and the birth.

My practice as a Doula is to reawaken, revive, and nourish the Mother within us. When a woman is rooted in and consciously embodying that primordial feminine energy, there is no stopping HER. ;) Feminine strength, expressed through our capacity to expand, transforms us into mothers— physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. As my midwife said to me when she laid my baby girl on my chest, "Now you know you can do anything." And it was true!

My role is to support you to know and embody this strength as your birthright, to guide you in re-membering your power and your fearlessness, to inspire you to trust yourself, and know “in your belly and your bones,” as my teacher says, that anything is possible.

What is my role as a Birth Doula?

My role is to support you physically, emotionally and mentally throughout your pregnancy and birth with Oriental and Ayurvedic medicine and education. When Labor begins: I come prepared for anything we have discussed including: advocating for your needs and wants, facilitating massage or acupuncture, suggesting breathing techniques, using herbal steam bundles, offering yoni (vagina) compresses, encouraging you to use your voice, providing comfort and support, and cooking your first post-birth meal-- traditional Ayurvedic momma’s porridge.

I begin all my Doula work with a free consultation so that we can meet face to face, body to body, heart to heart. We can talk about your hopes, curiosities, desires and any questions you may have, in this way we will know if we are a good match for each other.

The Importance of Postpartum Care:

It is said that the way you spend the first 40 days after your birth will set the tone for the next 40yrs of your life. This 4th trimester is as important as all the other 3. When I provide care to you doing this time I nurture you so that you can more fully nurture this new life. Whether it is your first birth or you are already a mother, I believe the more nourishment you receive the more you will have to give. I am here to make this transition as smooth and easy as possible, to witness you where you are at, to hear your stories, and to offer any help and healing within my scope of practice.

My services include your choice of Ayurvedic and Chinese wisdom techniques for postpartum care: Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Abyangha (Ayurvedic Oil massages), Nutritional Guidance, and Moxibustion (mother warming), Homeopathy for mother and baby, Thai Herbal Steam Bundles, Herbal Sitz Baths, Yoni Steams, traditional Balinese Belly Binding, and Closing of the Bones (a tender and moving ritual for reclaiming yourself from the selflessness of birthing).

I love to include cooking your first meal of traditional Ayurvedic momma’s porridge and offer care for your placenta creating both a traditional Chinese encapsulation as well as a tincture and homeopathic remedy for the child's entire life.

It is my heart's joy to be of service in all of these ways for you.

I also offer postpartum care as a stand-alone service. Whether we have walked together through your pregnancy and birth or are meeting postpartum for the first time, I love creating personalized packages for “my” mamas. [<—LINK: to page describing a la carte and stand-alone postpartum services]
